 WIN D5000
Capcom’s Lost Planet 2 is big. Big bugs, bigger aliens and even bigger battles. As part of a four-man team sent to seize control of a changing planet, the game pits man versus beast in spectacular fashion – with awe-inspiring vistas playing host to a range of spectacularly fearsome foe.
Remind yourself it’s only a game. Or is it? Capcom wants to find the best real-life photo which plays with perspective to create the illusion of size.
We’re looking for the best photo which plays with perspective, ones which marry a large depth of field with playful composition to create objects out of proportion. This type of photo can be captured with anything – a mobile phone camera, or top of the range SLR. We’re not after the perfect lighting or exposure, just a creative framing.

As landscape is the theme for April’s Photo Month we thought ‘Sunset’ was a rather apt theme for the competition.
No doubt you have a great sunset on your computer since your last holiday, maybe of some exotic location or down at the local beach.
It can be an urban sunset with buildings illuminated by the glow of the setting sun, a horizon with silhouettes of people/objects in the frame or one just showing the beauty of the setting sun. Anything goes, so long as it fits the theme of the competition ‘Sunset’.

Our eighth photo contest brings a new opportunity for Smithsonian to see the world through your unique lens. After seven competitions, our editors have seen over 140,000 photographs from more than 90 countries around the world. What makes a photograph a Smithsonian winner? Fifty finalists will be selected, ten for each of the five categories. Smithsonian will notify the 50 finalists by February 28, 2011.
